Richard (Rick) White

- Richard (Rick) White is originally from Nova Scotia, Canada, and has been living in Miyazaki since 1998. During this time Mr. White has had occasion to teach Japanese English learners of all levels and ages, having taught at conversation schools, elementary schools, and universities. Since April, 2005 he has been an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Miyazaki.
Mr. White is married and has a 6-year old daughter.

- Mr. White contributed two units to the textbook Communication Across the Board (Narron, et al eds. Seibido, 2004).
- Academic specialties and interests
- In the classroom Mr. White generally focuses on reading and vocabulary building, with a view to improving students’ ability to express themselves in speaking and writing.
Mr. White has several years experience studying both Greek and Latin, and has a strong interest in English vocabulary and etymology, as well as spoken grammar. He also has a strong interest in cultural contextualization through reading.
